Exclusive Interview with R&B Sensation Lafonda

What's going on Lafonda? Tell the people where you are from.

Hey! I am from the Boogie Down Bronx.

So let’s get into this. I hear you are gearing up to release a new EP entitled Don't Need a Cosign. Can you explain the whole meaning and conception of the project?

Yes I am releasing a new EP in a few months. I’m very excited about the new project. I titled the project Don't need a Cosign because in almost every record on the EP the concepts of the songs are basically talking about different situations dealing with how people break up or separate and felt like they were giving their all but their partners weren’t appreciative of what they had. I wanted to send out a message to everyone in general you don’t need a cosign, you don’t need anyone to validate you in a relationship. That’s why we also decided to use the “Don’t Need a Cosign” record as the first single on the EP even though it gives a general message for the ladies and the fellas but the songs on the EP actually give a little more detail and give you more of a picture and examples on what people go through when they break up in relationships.

What style of music can fans expect to hear from you on the new EP?

The style of music I would say R&B of course. Hip Hop and pop.

Whose production went into the project?

On this project I worked with producers such as Legend, Drawzilla, G Sparkz, Plaboy Chi and J-EYE Music.

How do you feel you've grown as an artist from your first CD, Go Hard or Go Home?

I think I’ve grown vocally, and that’s one of the most important things about being a singer. Fans want to see you grow vocally. They don’t want to see you stay at the same level so I’ve been out more with my vocal coach stimulating my vocals [laughs]. Also another thing that is different is that I am working with different producers on this project just to expand my sound and give it a slight edge. A little different but its still has that Lafonda sound.

Is there a set date right now for Don't Need a Cosign's release?

There is no exact date but we know for sure it will be in September.
