New Interview- Johnnie Floss

Johnnie Floss, what it is? BK in the house. Let everyone know about your grind and movement.

My movement starts with my production team Traxx 1st Productions and I've performed at almost every showcase in New York. From the Get Your Buzz Up showcase to the Streets Has a voice showcase etc. I have been around.

Lotta BIG names (no pun intended) came out of BK. How does Johnnie Floss measure up?

Johnnie Floss is right up there with the best of them because not only do I have talent but I have hit records and at the end of the day that's what its all about. I also get a lot of love and positive feedback for what I do and how I do it. Once you earned your respect from your peers the rest speaks for itself.

Why Hip Hop?
It has such an amazing influence on me, especially when I was growing up. I can express myself so well and I also think certain people were meant for certain things. Like Michael Jordan was meant to play basketball, Muhammed Ali was meant to be a boxer, Al Green was meant to be a singer and Johnnie Floss is meant to be a Hip-Hop artist!!

Cool, well It's finally 09, new president, new government, new money. Whats on the agenda for the year?

First of all to keep making great music, second to expand my fanbase and third and most importantly get a record deal!

Your a showcase grinder, always tearing stages down, networking and all that. Why is an artists visibility so crucial to their over all project?

Two things. Marketing and image. Ten, fifteen years ago you could land on a label based on pure talent and they were willing to gamble on you but now you have to sell yourself and those two things help that. Its nothing like having a hit record and then showing people that you can bring that song to life with your performance or a great video.

You have been doing your thing for a minute- what is it gonna take for you to get to that next level?

Its a combination of a few things but the main things are the right record with the right situation and the right people. One thing that I learned about this industry that I'll never forget is that you have to be patient and just keep doing your thing.

As an artist that has gone through the mud in nyc and is able to still be motivated, what kind of advice can you give artists trying to breakthrough?

Never stop. If this is what you want never stop because eventually its gonna happen for you. Just keep God first and continue to work hard!!

Where can we find you online?

Myspace.com/johnniefloss, Traxx1st.com,hoodgrownonline.com.and youtube.com

Any shouts?

Big shout out to my team Traxx 1st Productions. J.Dot, Ghost, Gameface, Romel, Blade Brown and The Kid Realiest. My homies Ski and Magic Juan at Flia Entertainment, my homie Carlos from Making The Band 4, J Hatch, Bed Tyme 357, Drawzilla and everybody at Inasirkl, Ray and Jay Daniels from Drahma Magazine, Adante Ace, the whole borough of Brooklyn, and all the haters because I wouldn't be nothing without you!

Killah Priest , Tha Advocate and Ballerstatus bring you 'The Untold Story of Walter Reed'

Wu-Tang affiliate Killah Priest has teamed up with BallerStatus.com and our in-house artist Tha Advocate to give our readers and his fans an exclusive free download of his brand new street mixtape The Untold Story Of Walter Reed.

The 20+ track release features brand new exclusive freestyles to keep fans' mouths watering while he readies the release of his next full length LP, The Psychic World Of Walter Reed.

"I want to tell the fans at BallerStatus, this is just grass roots Priest, the rapper says. "I'm just coming at you in your face. I'm just giving away gems. I'm the Priest that's just emceeing."

The Untold Story Of Walter Reed is strictly Killah Priest, aside from appearances by his artists Starkim and G/Ciples, both gracing the free mixtape with their own freestyles.

Priest says the new tape ranks up with some of his best mixtapes, but admits it's not his best. However, he makes it clear that the music is a problem regardless.

"As far as mixtapes, it's up there, but not my best. That's soon to come," Killah Priest says. "But, as far as rhyming? It's going to be way better than 99% of the albums out right now. Oh, I forgot it's a drought out here, as far as dope songs go."

So, here's some new Killah to sink your teeth into. The rapper revealed that he will drop a Pt. 2 to this tape just before his album The Psychic World Of Walter Reed hits stores.
